How Do You Fall in Love With Jesus?

As I was driving to a nearby town recently, I witnessed the fall colors beginning to emerge from the trees —a magnificent sight in Northwest Arkansas. My thoughts captivated me as I pondered the fall and rekindled love. Fall is a season of change, filled with color and transformation, as well as decisions to make. And on this drive, I began to ask myself, “How does one fall in love with Jesus?”

Falling in love with Jesus often begins in the season of one’s life. For some, it is during the fall when the colors of creation change, along with the desire to fall like leaves to the ground, to consider what comes next, what is essential, or whom one has fallen in love with. The change that comes with fall prompts the question: What will change within you? What has been lost or gained in this scenery of change, and can I be happy in this fall season?

This fall, I am reminded how Fall can lead us to Jesus for the first time, or deepen our love relationship with Him. But I ask myself and you may too, in this fall season, “what are you letting go of, and are you letting God allow the season of your life to lead him ever more to him? Are we stuck in a season that is holding us back from moving forward?

Jesus wants us to fall in love with him through every season of our lives. Where are you this fall? Are you waiting in the back pew, looking for an opportunity to see what’s holding you back? Is everything the same in your love for Jesus? What is stealing your peace or hijacking your joy? Are you too busy with could’ve, would’ve, should’ve, didn’t scenarios? What is holding you back from falling in love with Jesus?

And over all these virtues put on love, which binds them all together in perfect unity. Colossians 3:14 (NIV)

Have you allowed the overfilled backpack of your life to weigh you down with a heaviness that is preventing you from finding or seeking after Jesus? Do you have doubts that Jesus would love you or want your love? Perhaps your backpack of life is filled with burdens that you have not yet unpacked and left at the feet of Jesus. He loves you and wants to bear your burdens.

Do you know Jesus? If you have never made that decision, please reach out to me or someone you know who is a believing Christian. We desperately want to share our love of Jesus with you, and how much he loves YOU.

How might you consider rekindling your love for Jesus and falling in love with him more and more? In short, How Do You Fall In Love With Jesus?…

    1. Believe that Jesus loves me. Read God’s word, spend time with other Christ followers, and have ongoing conversations with Jesus.
    2. Surrender whatever you might be holding onto in your backpack, release that burden to Jesus, and let him take your burden and heal you
    3. Trust God through the seasons of your life to never leave you and guide you through his word, other believers, and prayer.

I pray that as we enter this season of fall, with its changing colors, falling leaves, and cooler temperatures, we would take every opportunity to Believe, Surrender, and Trust Jesus as we fall in love with Him more and more.

“This is love: not that we loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son as an atoning sacrifice for our sins. Dear friends, since God so loved us, we also ought to love one another.“ 1 John 4:10,11

    Love you friend,
    Laverne

    God’s Plan In The Pieces

    God’s Plan In The Pieces

Holding on, but to find, you have to let go and let God finish his work.
My heart breaks out of control, another piece of love hurts.
I want to go back and turn around to what once was. BUT… The future awaits.
Water under the bridge never returned to the place that it once was.
    God continues to move,
Sometimes slow and sometimes we feel out of control.
It overflows its boundaries at the water’s edge as the storm rages.
Finding peace in the pieces, cuts on the razor’s edge.
    We hurt, we bleed,
coming to the place where God says let go and let me.
God has a perfect plan when my eyes can’t see.
In blindness, I trust even when it’s hard, and I want to fix it.
Can I trust, Will I trust, Will I let go, be brave in my broken heart?
    No blame, no shame.

    C.L. Weems
She Found Peace In The Pieces
    Chapter 10, page 36

Many of the pieces of my story have been written down, tucked away in boxes, and filed in my memory. “She Found Peace in the Pieces” is the story of God’s love in the midst of life’s storms.

Have you ever found yourself in a broken place in your life? Or maybe you are living through one now?

This prayer has helped me during the brokenness I have faced, receiving hope and love from the one who heals my broken heart. Please feel free to pray it for yourself or pass it on:

“I pray, Father, help me to be brave in my broken heart.
I know you have a perfect plan when my eyes can’t see.
I know you can and will work in my mess.
Turn my brokenness into treasures of love.
Quiet, the clatter of noise in my head,
so I can listen from my heart.”
    CL Weems

    Proverbs 4:23
Guard your heart above all else, for it determines the course of your life.

In closing, I ask. Have you turned your brokenness into treasures of love? I would love to hear from you and hear how your story is unfolding.

    Take care,

    Laverne

    How Are You Doing?

    Hello friends,

With all the weather and life-changing moments lately, I am reaching out to ask…

    “How are you doing?”

I am reminded of Matthew 22: 36-39 (NLT)
    (36) “Teacher, which is the most important commandment in the law of Moses?”
    (37) Jesus replied, “You must love the Lord, your God, with all your heart, all your soul, and all your mind.”
    (38) This is the first and greatest commandment.
    (39) A second is equally important: love your neighbor as yourself.

    Love, love, love…

Loving others comes in many forms, but one of them is just checking in and asking…

    “How are you doing?”

And then waiting for the answer, listening, and being the arms of Jesus in their lives.

Check-in on your friends and family. Sometimes that’s all that is needed for them to feel heard cared for or someone to share their moment with.

    Just saying…

    Laverne reading God'ss word.

And it looks like from my reading today that’s just what God wanted from me today, so…

    “How are you doing?”

Please let me know by a comment below or through a personal email on my contact page if you have a life update or a prayer request or just let me know…

    “How are you doing?”

    Do You Have a Minute?

    Do You Have a Minute?

    Hello Friends,

Do you have a minute to share what you think about my book? I really want to know. You can email me directly via the link below. A review page is in the works for my website. Or if you would like to share your thoughts via the comment block below that would be great.

Also I am looking for reviews to build ratings and share my book with those who don’t me. Your review will make a difference and may touch a broken heart that needs to hear my story.

When you visit these sites you can also click to ‘follow’ the author, which is me.

Simply click on this link if you have ordered on Amazon:

Goodreads is a place where books are shared and commented on, doesn’t matter where you got the book:

Today on my walk a friend and I chatted, she was halfway through the book and asked me how long did it take me to write my book. This got me to thinking that others may have questions. Please send them my way!

How long did it take me to write my book?

First of all, it started with a journal that was given to me after my husband had died. My journaling began writing letters and poems to my late husband. The journaling helped me get into God’s word which I then added to my notes. Years later after mentoring and helping others go through brokenness I met someone who I had helped who was now asking me why I hadn’t written a book? That’s where the book started. I never envisioned writing a book until this little fireball of a friend challenged me. She provided the missing pieces to help me put the book together and publish it.

Through your brokenness of your walk there may be a story in you to share with others. Start journaling your thoughts today or continue writing. And remember that you don’t have to have all the pieces to put it all together. Just expressing your thoughts, jotting them down on paper might someday become a book that I would love to hear about!

Thank you for walking in this journey with me.

    Your Friend,
    Laverne

    Walking in Faith

    Walking in Faith

From my first Bible to my first book! This is what walking in faith looks like.

    Woman holding old bible
My First Bible as a child

    Isaiah 61:3
To all who mourn in Israel,
he will give a crown of beauty for ashes,
a joyous blessing instead of mourning,
        festive praise instead of despair.
In their righteousness, they will be like great oaks
that the Lord has planted for his own glory
    .

God offers each of us healing and grants peace just for our asking.
    Seek, and ye shall find.
Troubles as they may, I have this moment right now to make a difference.
Keep it simple and take care of yourself.
    Make those tough decisions.
    Deal with your emotions head-on.
Know that through God’s love and mercy,
He will take care of each one of us.

    Sneak Peek from Chapter 4….

Much of my time was spent outdoors playing dress up in Mom’s old skirts and making mud pies on the rock fence….

    And today?

Looking at her now, she had no idea what her story would lead to and how she would not look back…

    Here’s My First 2nd Blog Post…

    Here’s My First 2nd Blog Post…

    Hello Friends,

I am excited to share this new adventure of a website, blog, and book, “She Found Peace in the Pieces.” I catch myself hardly believing that I am doing this!

As with any new adventure there may be some glitches and technical bumbles. We had a few of these and are doing our best to fix things. Please forgive my repeat post if this is your second one. In the meantime we have added a comment block to the bottom as we work out technical stuff. Thank you for your understanding and patience:-)

Jumping arms high at the beach. C.L. Weems, She Found Peace in the Pieces,

God placed this adventure upon my life after my first husband died in 2008. It has been a long process, but God had a plan that led to where I am writing to you today.

I must admit it is outright scary to think of God using me in this way, as an author of a book about my journey in the hopes of helping others. But out of obedience, here I am, putting myself out there in front of unknown treasures of the sea. (More on that later.)

I am scared, even terrified, and I sometimes ask myself, ” What in the world am I doing?” However, I know that God got me through a very dark and broken time, and now my brokenness is for His glory.
